Brewgooder – Clean Water Lager

Lager • 4.5 % ABV • Brewed at Brewdog, Aberdeenshire, Scotland

My next beer has been brewed by Brewdog through the guys at Brewgooder – a team that are on a mission to provide clean water for 1,000,000 people by donating 100% of their profits to clean water charities.
With the rise in popularity for craft beer, as-well as a collaboration with one of the UK’s most in your face breweries, I’ve no doubt that they will achieve their goals – and then some!

The beer is called Clean Water Lager. It is uniquely hopped with Saaz and Sorachi Ace as well as a mixture of barley and a little wheat to offer what Brewgooder and Brewdog say is a well-rounded and crisp beer with citrus goodness.
Let’s crack this little number up and see what it has to offer!

Clean Water Lager pours with a crystal clear, pale golden colour. Its liveliness produces a 1cm white head which settles but remains strong around the edge of the surface.
The hoppiness in the aroma was the first thing to hit me when the beer was poured into the glass. A citrusy and grassy aroma kicked things off with a hint of spiciness.
A subtle maltyness also lingers amongst the well hopped notes.
The flavour is balanced really well from the sweet biscuit which to me was reminiscent of digestive biscuits, to the lemon from the hops.
A sharp bitterness edges in at the end and settles very quickly almost pushing you to try some more – and you do.
Clean Water Lager is a crisp, refreshing and really tasty beer with a light to medium body as well as a pleasant level of carbonation.

I’m a big lover of hoppy lagers and this beer is no exception.
More balanced than other extreme examples I’ve tried, but still manages to retain its light and refreshing edge.
Who couldn’t enjoy a beer whilst doing some good in the world too?
