Brewery Cerveceria y Malteria Quilmes, Buenos Aires

Founded by a German immigrant, Otto Bemberg, in Buenos Aries, Quilmes quickly became the most popular beer in Argentina. In 1921 the first malt was made from Argentine barley which was then and is now the malt used in Quilmes. It is only brewed in its home nation using Patagonia hops, the malt which is grown in The Pampas and water from the Andes. The blue and white labelling is of course Argentina’s colours and it sponsors the national football team as well as large involvement with rugby union and also polo. It is now well established across the globe as a premium lager, above most central and South American adjunct lagers.
