Brewery Brouwerij van Hoegaarden, Hoegaarden

Records of brewing date back to 1445 when local monks in village started creating the Belgian white beer we know of today. However by the 1950 s the tradition had all but died out until Pierre Celis, a local milkman decided to revive the style and using the original recipe continued making Hoegaarden. In 1985 a fire burned down the brewery but thanks to support from local brewers it was rebuilt and production continued.
