Country of OriginAustralia
Style English Pale Ale
ABV 4.5%
Year of Origin 1989
Brewery Coopers Brewery Limited, Adelaide

From the only wholly Australian-owned major brewery, Original Pale Ale is the most successful beer brewed by Coopers and is seen as the classic South Australian beer even though it was only created in the late-80s. It did have a number of predecessors in Light Brew Sparkling Ale and Light Dinner Ale with the former discontinued due to poor sales and the latter sold from 1960s until it became the Original with some slight recipe changes.

Appearance

Pale yellow with a slight haze, a white head sits atop which stays the course and leaves very good lacing throughout.

Aroma

Herbal hops are at the front with a nice amount of citrus which brings in a slight amount of cereal from the malts.

Taste

A very nice blend of malts and herbal hops with a small amount of bitterness, a little bit of lemon and some bread from the malts.

Mouthfeel

Very soft and smooth with some gentle carbonation and a good medium body.
