Brewery Budejovicky Budvar

Coming from a 700 year old tradition of brewing, Budvar gained its name in 1930 when the brewery trademarked it and used it for one of its export pale lager, which it had been doing for some time to the US where a lot of emigrants were heading. The success of the trademark actually drove the board of directors to include it into the name of the brewery. Due to the American Anheuser-Busch named Budweiser, Budvar is known as Czechvar.
